Cody Brown Memorial Scholarship
The Cody Brown Memorial Scholarship program:

Is sponsored by the Griffin School Foundation in cooperation with The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound.

Recognizes the achievements of Griffin School graduates.

Awards scholarships for any type of post-high school education or training.
Applicants must:

Be a former Griffin School student who attended a minimum of two years at Griffin School.

Be a high school senior in a public or accredited private high school in Thurston County as of September of the application year.
Scholarship awards are determined by using the following factors:

Demonstrated academic ability: Applicant must have a minimum accumulated GPA of 3.0. Student need not be at the top of his/her class.

Extracurricular Activities/Community Service: Volunteer projects and active participation in community and/or school activities that exemplify a commitment to excellence

Career goals: an indication of how the scholarship might contribute to future career goals. Please identify your areas of interest and how you have prepared yourself to enter this field of study.

Mentoring: Demonstrated ability to be a mentor or "encourager" to peers.

Applicant Appraisal: Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a teacher/advisor, and one from someone who can comment on a student's overall character, achievement, and promise.

Stability: Length of attendance at Griffin School.
What can this scholarship be used for? Scholarships can be used for any type of education or training beyond high school. The award will be made upon verification of enrollment in the student's choice of an accredited college, university or vocational institution.

When is the scholarship application deadline?
The application deadline is Friday April 24, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
Applications will be sent to Thurston County
area high schools beginning February 2009.

with the provision that the related family member not serve on the
committee during the year in which the application is considered.
