Tiernan-Keigher Scholarship
The Teirnan-Keigher Scholarship program:

Is sponsored by the Griffin School Foundation in cooperation with The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound.

Recognizes the achievements of Griffin School District student.

Awards scholarships for any type of post-high school education or training.
Applicants must:

Live in the Griffin School boundaries OR attend Griffin School.

Be the equivalent of an 8th grade student in a public, home-schooled, or accredited private school as of September of the application year.
Scholarship awards are determined by using the following factors:

Demonstrated academic ability: Academic ability is one aspect of selection criteria. However, a student need not be at the top of his/her class, but must have achieved an accumulated GPA of 2.8.

Financial Need: This is a need-based scholarship and an applicant's financial resources will be taken into consideration.

Extracurricular Activities/Community Service: Volunteer projects and active participation in community and/or school activities that exemplify a commitment to excellence

Personal/Education goals: an indication of how the scholarship might contribute to future education goals. Please identify your areas of interest and how you might prepare yourself to enter this field.

Service: Demonstrated ability to be a helpful to others such as leadership roles, citizen and community involvement, good friend or family member (i.e. chores).

Applicant Appraisal: Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a teacher/advisor, and one from someone who can comment on a student's overall character, achievement, and promise.
What can this scholarship be used for? Scholarships can be used for any type of education or training beyond high school. subject to the following: The award will be placed in an account in the name of the scholarship winner and held in trust until verification of student’s enrollment in an accredited college, university or vocational institution. In the event that recipient fails to enroll in a higher education program or meet the minimum criteria during their high school years, the funds held in trust will revert back to the ownership of the Griffin School Foundation.

Applications will be available at Griffin School beginning January 30, 2009, or downloaded by selecting the below link. The application deadline is Friday, May 15, 2009 at 5:00p.m delivered to Griffin School Foundation c/o The Community Foundation of South Puget .

NOTE: Members of the immediate
families of any Scholarship Committee members are eligible to apply
with the provision that the related family member not serve on the
committee during the year in which the application is considered.
