Tiernan-Keigher Scholarship

The Tiernan-Keigher Scholarship was made possible by a generous anonymous donor with matching proceeds from our 2006 Auction. This scholarship is awarded to a current Griffin 8th grade student and held in trust until the recipient is enrolled in a higher education program.

The scholarship was created in acknowledgment of two women, Margaret Keigher and Annie Tiernan, who left Ireland in the first quarter of the last century to find a better life in America. While neither had children of their own or a formal education, they were women of great faith, wisdom, and patience. They spent their lives providing love and understanding to countless children in their care who will always remember them.

Key Criteria: This is a needs-based scholarship and an applicant's financial resources are taken into consideration. Volunteer projects and active community participation and/or school activities are also prioritized. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
